Fred Carvell

Fred Carvell has spent most of his life on the Monterey Peninsula. His passion for painting began as a young man but he did not become a full time professional until 2000. After a series of solo shows and exhibits in private and public galleries, he was accepted by the Carmel Art Association in 2001. Since then, over a thousand of his paintings have been acquired by collectors across the United States, Canada, the British Isles, continental Europe, India and Japan.

He is a colorist who creates contemporary semi-abstract images of the land inspired by scenes found in the central coast region and inland deserts of California and the Mediterranean countries he has visited. Using acrylic paint on acid-free paper, he melds bright primary colors with luminous earth tones to produce warm and harmonious landscapes. His works range in size from small (11” x 11”) to large (48” x 60”).

Fred lives in Carmel Valley, CA with his wife, Joan. His work is carried by several local galleries, including the Carmel Art Association in Carmel-by-the-Sea and the LyonsHead Gallery in Carmel Valley.
